The thing about going on record.

I am just heroically bad at writing at any length, with any haste. I find it difficult enough writing songs, but most snapshots of one's headspace in any given time and place are just that. A snapshot. If a song doesn't line up with any ideal, mood or occasion, its "snapshot" status justifies any incongruence.

Greeting cards, on the other hand...

When I write messages on greeting cards for friends, invariably I find staring back at me the Everest of a task that is trying to not immortalise any instance of sticking my size ten-and-a-bit into my occasionally size 15 broadcaster, along with what I actually meant to convey. I agonise over word choice. Tone. Potential double entendres. If there are aspirations included, I hope to every conceivable superbeing that I don't cock it up. Put politely, I find it all quite difficult.

Writing messages for family, though, that Everest seems more like Olympus Mons.
